I tested Proth20 on a GTX 1660 under Win 7 with the following results:

400,000 digits: 170 s (2:50 mins)
1,100,000 digits: 1700 s (28 mins)

It's fast, but the disadvantage of GPUs is that you cannot run several simultaneous tasks with high efficiency.

It might still be worth to use it to enable GPU computing on the many Proth subprojects of PG? Maybe some people get tired of GFN... :)

As far as I know, support for Proth20 here on PrimeGrid is coming. But it needs some work from all the nice people who make things happen. /JeppeSN

I'm not 100% sure about the n values but something like:

1281979 * 2^1200xxx + 1
1281979 * 2^3800xxx + 1

(both were composite btw ;) )

Why are you interested? Does the k-value strongly influence calculation times? It doesn't on CPU in my experience.

Great to hear. I noticed the "operate as BOINC client app" switch, which gives a hint of things to come.

It's really nice how good PG is maintained, for example introduction of LLR2. I just hope there'll always be a new generation to take over. :)
