Hello community,

I have seen several TRP Sieve workunits which failed with an error message "Factors File not Found". One examples is workunit 729670428 - this is a different error than a normal "invalid" workunit".

Is that a local problem with my systems?

The task failed for some reason, and aborted early. Notice that most of your TRP sieve tasks take about 2000 seconds to run? This one took about 600 seconds. If you look at all of your TRP-sieve tasks you'll see that many of them also aborted and stopped early.

That shouldn't be happening. Something is not working correctly in that computer. Either the hardware is at fault, or there's some software that's interfering with the tasks.

Also, there's no such thing as a "normal invalid". Invalid results should never happen.

Hi Michael,

thanks for the reply - your hint wrt software got me thinking in the right direction. I'll never again apply an incremental OS update while BOINC is runnnig. Apparently it broke something for the running tasks.

I agree that invalid units should not happen and are not normal.
What I meant to say was that the usual suspects (memory or heat problems) do give a differrent error.
