For the purpose of processing GPU tasks on an AMD APU or separate GPU for new users, I wanted to run this by the folks who are familiar with manually creating their app_info xml file.

Is it possible to have a thread on the message board with a working (and up to date) app_info examples, as well as basic steps for someone to get up and running without the hours of research and effort? We seem to have a few examples in different places with MUCH troubleshooting all thrown in the mix, and a ton of reading.

Could there be a way we can make a customizable app_info template based on the type of work we want to complete, which we can copy paste to notepad and save as our own XML file?

Also, a list of associated files to download, and the directory in which they should be placed, would be ideal for clarity.

Finally, some general "Good to know" info such as if the configuration applies to your specific hardware. Example: Will an (app_info) config intended for an R9 390 still work for the R3 HD8400 series GPU from AMD's Athlon 5350 APU?

I think this is a great idea. After I spent about four hours trying to sort out my R9 290X config for primegrid, I finally got it running in some gimped-up fashion and now I don't want to touch it. I'm concerned it'll be another multi-hour endeavour with no guarantee of a tangible benefit.
