We have released a new sieve file the Riesel sieving, which will automatically be deployed by BOINC to computers running the TRP-sieve.
The new sieve file is quite a bit smaller than the previous sieve file, so it's possible the sieve may ran faster than before.
Unless you are using app_info, no action is necessary on your part.
However, if you are running TRP-Sieve with app_info, you will need to manually download the new sieve file, and modify your app_info.xml file to use the new file.
The new sieve file can be downloaded from http://www.primegrid.com/download/TRP_20131010.sieveinput, and the new file size is 24296324. (UPDATE: This sieve file has been superseded. Scroll down a few messages for the latest sieve file.)
If you do not upgrade and happen to validate against a wingman who is using the new sieve file, your result may fail validation. It's therefore strongly recommended that you upgrade. Note, however, that there will still be some old workunits being sent out with the old sievefile for a few more hours. My recomendation, if you're using app_info, is to download the new sievefile, but not download any new TRP-Sieve tasks until tomorrow morning to make sure you get tasks using the new sieve file. TRP-Sieve workunits and results have a name that starts with "TRP_sieve_#######". If the seven digit number at the end is 4417056 or greater the task uses the new sieve file. (That corresponds to Workunit IDs 361569193 or higher.)

Thank you. I'm always very pleased with the turn around on stuff with primegrid. If there is a substantial speed up will you increase the size of the files for android devices to keep it within roughly the same window of crunching time?

I don't expect it to be that much faster, but yes, if it was, say, twice as fast as I could see making the tasks twice as long.

There was a second prime found, eliminating another k, and therefore there is another new sieve file.
Same drill as with the previous sieve file; for most people, no action is necessary but if you're using app_info you must download and use the new sieve file.
The url for downloading the new file is http://www.primegrid.com/download/TRP_20131011.sieveinput.
It will be a few hours before workunits with the latest sieve file make there way through the system.
EDIT: The first workunit with the new(est) sieve file has an ID of 361732557 and the WU name is TRP_sieve_4423929. The first task with the new sieve file has an id of 490897410.

How do I know if I have app.info?
If you have to ask, you're not using it. :)
App_info (officially known as "anonymous platform") is a rather low level, nuts and bolts method for forcing BOINC to run applications using user-specified programs instead of the programs the server sends out. It's something that requires a fair amount of learning curve to set up, and is absolutely not going to happen "by accident" without you knowing about it.

Michael, would you check, please. I maybe using it, since often I get a message about using an anonymous platform. Thanks.

When you look at your task list on this website, the rightmost column will say "(anonymous platform)" when you're using app_info. Yours doesn't.
If you're unsure whether you have set it up or not, another way of checking is to look for the file "app_info.xml" in your BOINC data directory. If it's not there, you're not using app_info. Again, this is something you must set up manually; it's not something that BOINC creates on its own. If you didn't create the file app_info.xml file, you're not using it. I suppose it's possible for someone to sleepwalk over to their computer, open up a text editor, and create the file while asleep, but that's rather unlikely. Barring such a bizarre sleepwalking episode, it's virtually impossible for you to be using app_info without knowing it. It's hard to set up correctly, and absolutely not something you can do without knowing about it.
Which brings me back to my first response: If you have to ask, you're not using it.
It's kind of like asking asking only brain surgeons to fill out a questionnaire and not being sure whether or not you're a brain surgeon. If you were, you'd know. If you don't know, you're not.

And here you are just begging to have a response :)
How did you know you were only asking brain surgeons to fill out the survey? LOL

Thank you Michael, as well as for the wit. I am sure I would not be a prime candidate for sleepwalking and set it up.
Brainsurgeon, hmm, maybe I am. Any volunteers for surgery?

|
nvm.
I'm not a surgeon apparently. (just rocket scientist)
