I've installed support for the Android/ARM platform, and set up the Android version of the TRP-Sieve application on the server.
Those of you running BOINC on your Android device can now run TRP-Sieve directly from the PrimeGrid server without have to manually install the app using app_info. Just attach to PrimeGrid and select TRP-Sieve as you would with any other computer.

I'll look into it. I think we need to get Berkeley to update their description of PrimeGrid.

PrimeGrid should now appear automatically on Android devices.

That was a really quick turn around. Hopefully it adds to the number of android users attached to this project. |

I found another place that needs to be updated to show primegrid I'm not sure who to contact and I didn't want to just make an account and edit it myself. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Android_FAQ#What_science_projects_can_I_support.3F

Did my first TRP Sieve WU on an Android phone. Took 8hrs and 25 mins on a Samsung Galaxy S3.
Biggest problem is overheating. The BOINC client suspends when battery temp goes above 40deg.
When charging up the battery just gets warm from the charging.
The Galaxy S3 has 4 cores, but I can only use 2 of them in steady state.
Can you get phone coolers? |

That sounds too low a ceiling - I was operating in the 50s on 1 or 2 cores on my S3. Yes leave it outside in the wind ;)! |

Your S3 seems a bit slow. My Galaxy S2 runs about 5 hours 30 minutes running both cores. To keep it cool while charging (and I did this before adding BOINC to it), I keep it on a metal grate above the desk so that air circulates around the back of the battery. You might also want to run a small fan past it (or even better in summer, allow it to charge while on top of an AC vent if you have central air with floor vents). |

galaxy s3 only has 2 cores, not four. the galaxy s4 has four cores.
