Ok but not going to run an expensive cpu which uses a lot of power if it is not compatitive (efficient). There are projects where AMDs processors are working fine (most projects), so not wasting money here than.
Rather be on a project where the AMD is running efficiently and leave PG up to Intel cpus.

Although your comparison is not really fair since SMT on the AMD causes a major performance hit which is about 40% compared to SMT off (tested on a ryzen 7 pro 1700X by one of the cows on our own forum).
But I dont know what a 3900X does compared to a 9900K.
The 3900X is in most cases the faster CPU but if it is not efficient in PG it seems a waist of the powerconsumption.

It has been a long time since I did LLR tasks in a challenge.
Do you need any special apps for avx512 etc or does the client automaticaly use the right version?
In the past you had to download the right version to speed up the calculations.
Going to use a 3900X btw.
Thanks.

You need to download an Intel CPU. :)

(A very high-end Intel CPU at that.)

AMD doesn't support AVX-512.

Hehe i know but that was just an example. I dont know which AMD uses. Does not answer the question... that is why I am asking...

Unless you say an AMD is useless compared to Intel than never mind and I will put my computer to work at another project.

Rumor has it the herd (DPC) might be back. If so, the horde is ready for a bbq.

Cheers Rick

Probably a small herd but we are definitely joining the challenge again!
You never know when a herd turns into a stampede.

Edt: just tested a few AP27s and already found my first prime, I guess my luck has turned ;)

I have set the buffer to 5 days and still getting only one spare unit.

Well maybe it will solve it self.
Thanks for your help Kellen.

Boinc is estimating 7 minutes on a PPS Sieve unit.
It only takes less than 2 minutes to complete.
But with the 1 day buffer that should not really be an issue I think?

I do get a lot of units for the CPU when I request them, so it is GPU bound.

Is there something wrong with the server?
I am only getting 2 units for my GPU (PPS-sieve or AP27), while I have my buffer set on 1 day.
I normally get 100 tasks.
Or did I mess something up in my settings somewhere?
