Well... Out of the latests issues...

What about a x86 Linux CUDA app...?

Only for 64bits?

No, it only has to be recompiled for i386.
The CUDA-specific code - like in windows - does not care about the bitness of the OS.
I think it is only 64-bit because i started in Linux x86_64 with cuda-sdk 2.2 - which does not support cross-compiling - and a makefile for 64-bit binary. But i could be wrong.

So... You can do it...?

And release a Linux x86 CUDA version?

Good News!!!

A CUDA application has been released for 32 bit Windows (will run on 64 bit) and for 64 bit Linux. Below are some considerations:

  • Linux version may experience a GPU slowdown while CPU is at full load. This is believed to be a CUDA/OS specific problem. Please post if you experience this.
  • The GUI in windows will be less responsive while the app is running.
  • Sieving/primality testing strikes at the GPU weaknesses. Therefore, the application, while the fastest at PrimeGrid, does not compare to some of the other projects where the code is better suited for the GPU's. As such, credit will be somewhat lower than what you might experience at other projects. Nevertheless, you now have one more "device" to crunch on at PrimeGrid. :) Enjoy!!!

Please post your GPU observations/questions here.

A special thanks to Gerrit Slomma (roadrunner_gs) and Bryan Little (mfl0p). Without their efforts, this would not have become a reality!!!

Sorry, but CUDA app is only for 64bit win/linux.

Are NOT available for 32bits (ATM).
