1) Message boards : Number crunching : Mathematics Awareness Month Challenge (Message 116879)

Hello

Under 300 participants.
That's a small number.
The challenge wasn't even advertised in my team forum.
Maybe a large number of PrimeGriders have been reluctant to abort running-on long tasks.

Hi
Both work units have progressed ~1.2 % since about 7 hours.
I worry about the January 01 2018 deadline.

Hello Michael.

I have two Genefer 20 work units stuck at about 93%.
Both were to be completed before January 31/2018, elapsed calculation time over 31 days.

The computer restarted because Win 10 upgrade.

CPU is an i7-3770.

Should I wait for progress or delete ?

Thanks for answering.

Hi again

I have reinstalled Boinc Manager.
Now, I run it as admin.
It looks to work fine.

I did reboot Boinc Manager, as a result, only one task has remaining time chronometer working. The other WU is widely out of time. I'll see if droppping it will make a change.

What's strange is that before I posted in the forum, I did reboot the PC without any effect.

All that happened since Win10 last upgrade and since Win 10 asks for agreement when I restart Boinc Manager.

I think that I'll transfer Primegrid to another Dell 780 USFF still under Win 7 where Boinc Manager is runing einstein@ and vice-versa.

Thanks for your answer.

Cheers

Hello

On this PC: GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz RAM 4 Go
[Family 6 Model 23 Stepping 10] Win 10 pro

cruching Prime Sierpinsky (LLR) 8.00,

while elapsed time is running, remaining time is frozen on both WU.

Is this small Dell 780 USFF not powerfull enough for these WUs ?

Foreseeing out of time, must I drop them off ?

Thanks for answers

7) Message boards : Problems and Help : Different projects per computer (Message 101039)

Hi,

Ok, I understand that I should apply the same policy with PrimeGrid subprojects as I try to apply with Boinc Projects, which is "1 computer, 1 project", knowing that I have a 4 computers mini cluster running Boinc, avoiding differents projects competing for CPUs acces.

Hello again
Thanks for your fast answer.
Also, given that you have an i3, it's strongly recommended that you either disable Hyper Threading in the BIOS or, if you can't / don't want to, set the "Use at max xx% of the CPUs" option to 50%, as it'll speed up your tasks by a lot. Don't do both, however, go for one solution or the other (preferably the disable HT one).

Done with Hyper Threading off.

Other point: I was afraid with over 100 days WU such as noticed by Boinc Manager.
In fact, real processing time is about 1/3rd of it.

Hello
I have 9 tasks from various PrimeGrid sub-projects running for 4 CPUs.
I think that PrimeGrid servers shouldn't allow different tasks from sub-projets being either runned or suspended into clients' Boinc Managers.
This kind of competition bitwin sub-projects looks like messy.
I have 4 PCs running Boinc and I try to have 1 computer 1 project.

My main PC running PrimeGrid is only i3 3240 3.4 GHz 4cpu.

I'm scared that some of these can be delivered out of date.

Is there a way to forbid such a situation with Boinc Manager ?
