the top countries ranking you'll see there's 189 countries*

It is worse than 186 countries. In some like Australia each STATE has different gaming laws, You would need to be a registered charity or buy a gaming operators licence here in Queensland for example, EVERY other state has different rules, as I believe do each of the USA states. The winner importing the money could have trouble, or in some countries fifty or so lashes of a whip.
I like the idea but cold hard cash in not a universal currency.

My frustration is that I have a wingman's WU time out again! First sent 18th July and now due 3rd December. Yes I'm waiting patiently to go gold, but I am also waiting to see if my computer is able to do SOB reliably. The WU I'm waiting for has validation inconclusive. I need to know before I take on any more SOB tasks.

I would suggest crunching another one while you wait. If you have finished then it IS possible for you to get it right and the more you have pending the greater the chance of getting a good wingman for at least one of them, or you may get someone else out of the wait by being the wingman next time. I always do a couple extra for the badge just to minimise the wait.

Initially, I think it makes sense to reduce the credit awarded for a late result by one-third reflecting the amount of resources wasted. Maybe a sliding reduction amount based on how much past the deadline would be possible?

I remember a UNI lecturer on late work telling first lecture to class "You are adults now. If at work you told boss your presentation to the board would be a couple of days late you would probably get the sack." His idea was late work gets 100% reduction.

As a mature student for now I can say that 5 to 10 % per day is normal here (at JCU http://www.jcu.edu.au/)

As one who has waited for months for a wingman many times I would think that 10% per day would mean better returns as those who are not up to it would go off and find more suitable tasks, but the task would need to be held from purging until all the untimed-out work either is returned or times out.

The idea seems to be one of the better sugestions of the many I have seen over the years.

The Riesel Problem Sieve won't count even if you run it on an abacus.

Do you have an algorithm somewhere for an abacus? I can't seem to find it.

;) It seems you're being rather selective with your arguments, relating to your personal preferences?

I'm half-joking of course, happy crunching, whatever the outcome of this discussion may be!

I see your point, but that is not really right. I was not too clear, I meant the 2 task challenge as GFN/SOB, which I do not have any preference. It is GFN WR without anything else I think is the bad idea.

I see no problem with a GFN/GFN WR or a GFN/SOB or even a GFN/GFN WR/SOB challenge so long as the many who cannot do GFN WR in time are not left out in the cold.

Hopefully a bit clearer,

Happy crunching to you as well.

First I'll say I don't really care either way about running a 2 task challenge, I can see good and bad points but it seems that most of the comments are to say it is too much of a challenge!!

That is the idea!! If it was meant to be easy it would not be a challenge. If a screen lag is unacceptable then don't do it, but I would be sorry to see less challengers for that reason.

I am against a GFN WR challenge as I cannot complete a GFN WR in under 8 weeks, I would be absent for such a challenge, as I think would a great many others. It is not just the old computers that would be out of it, so would 2 year old i5/i3 machines with 630 GPUs. Such a challenge would be for the elite, recently upgraded or the rich and we have, so far, been having challenges that try to be as inclusive as possible.

Lastyear it was pointed out we have not had a Cullen challenge for a while. Perhaps it is time to fit one in somewhere.

Is there a list of suitable ATI GPU models, Please, or at least tell me if my HD5450 can run it?
