So your saying that JTFranklin and on Seti.germany is from another team " Team GpuUsersGroup"

Thanks
-SV

NO I have no clue who JTFranklin is I'm just saying that their very quick rise can be explained depending on their circumstances.

Hi, I know this must be a dumb question but i have never seen the kind of horsepower fired up in such a short time anywhere.

Since Dec 15th JTFranklin has set records for a single person on a daily basis.

I would love to congratulate him personally.

this is an amazing output, nothing short of unimaginable for one person so
many kudos to MR JTFranklin

I hope he gets this since he doesn't respond to PM's, i understand that but what a job
he did on PrimeGrid for Seti.germany over the last 2 weeks.

It deserves a round of applause. Pluus a statement from him!
speech, speech.

I look forward to hearing from JTFranklin and or Seti.germany on their new star member, who
only signed up on december 15th of this month then started putting out 235,292,429 yesterday
and over 839,065,497 in the last 7 days.

There is a guy on the Team GpuUsersGroup that sets up super computers and uses Boinc to test them prior to turning them over to whoever, he sets up each core as it's own machine and can flat bust out tasks at incredible rates like that as well. He does it for only a short amount of time, ie a week or less, and then stops crunching like that until the next one.

S out of curoisity is there a GFN-24 thru GFN-100 etc set of numbers to crunch at some point in the future? I'm not asking for a time frame just IF there are possible prime numbers that fit into those categories too.

Technically speaking, these GFN exponents can be sieved. But the size of the remaining candidates grows quickly and the primality test of these numbers can't yet be computed in a reasonable amount of time.
Because of rapid advances in hardware technology, it's unnecessary to sieve a range that will be tested in 10 or 20 years' time.
GFN-22 > 25M digits GFN-23 > 50M digits GFN-24 > 100M digits GFN-25 > 250M digits GFN-26 > 500M digits GFN-27 > 1000M digits

Thank you
4) Message boards : Number crunching : Is turning on hyper threading better if you still assign number of tasks to only pysical cores? (Message 147206)
Posted 886 days ago by Profile mikey
My observations on Windows:

If you run single thread LLR tasks, one per core, HT on is ~10% worse than HT off. Windows scheduler is doing something bad here, which I nicknames "core smear" as it moves the threads around and I think it overlaps them at times, hence the performance loss. Can be worked around by manually setting affinity to the boinc process, which gets inherited by tasks it runs subsequently.

Does the program Project Lasso assist in keeping them on the real cpu cores and away from the HT ones?

An interesting example: Mega Prime found by broken host.

http://www.primegrid.com/workunit.php?wuid=688110788

(Click on task number to view output).

As you can see, there is a message "Gerbicz check failed" in task output, along with some ROUND OFF (0.5) errors. The host is bad and unstable (overclocking, overheating).

"Gerbicz check failed" message is most dangerous here - it mean that error slip unnoticed through GWNUM. Without Gerbicz, incorrect intermediate result will be used in following stages of computation, generating wrong final result. Only LLR2 was able to detect error, recover, and give credit for this discovery to the original person.

In classic PrimeGrid DC scheme, this result will be inconclusive, and prime will be found by somebody else.
In projects without double-checking, like PrpNet or some other Boinc LLR projects, this prime will be missed forever.

So do you throttle the workunits being sent to that person based on their pc having problems?

All LLR2 projects except PSP, SOB and WOO (which still have some old/classic LLR workunits unpurged) are updated to version 9.01

So once those old workunits are gone those will be on LLR2 9.01 as well?

Yes.

For PSP and WOO old workunits are expected to be purged in the end of December. SOB, unfortunately, may take a while.

That works, thank you very much. You guys have done an outstanding job with this LLR2 stuff and we users appreciate it ALOT if you don't hear it often enough!!!

8) Message boards : Problems and Help : Multiple GPU Tasks (Message 146875)

I used to do SETI@home and I could run multiple tasks through my GPU using certain code. Is this possible on this project and if so could I get some basic code to play with. Apologies if this has been asked a million times before. Thanks.

As far as I know it's not helpful here at PrimeGrid to do that.
