1) Message boards : Number crunching : PrimeGrid's new server (again) (Message 68772)

Exiting BOINC and then restarting it appears to have corrected the problem as it did with darkclown. Thanks. Strange, though. It's never had that problem before with server changes.

[Edit]: Now that I look at some of the wingmen on my reported tasks, it looks like at least some other users are having the same problem I was.

Do you have any estimate on when we will be able to upload files? I'm still getting the 'Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site' errors and can't report or request any new tasks.

Well, as one of your long time volunteers with only CPU capability, it looks like I'm going to stop running these 'short' 250+ hour GFN tasks after I finish my current WU, then. Without a GPU, I can't switch to the WR tasks despite my computers proven stability over the years and I'm now going to be penalized on the 'short' tasks compared to SoB which takes the same time for more credit now. Maybe you should make the GFN-WR tasks CPU compatible if you want more crunchers. ;) Couldn't be any worse than the year long climate model tasks CPDN used to throw out that would spontaneously turn into an 'ice world' after 6 solid months of crunching. The only thing I worry about bonus credit is that it draws in users who are overclocked and can't handle these longer tasks.

I think the stats are a good motivator.

Stats may be a good motivator, but it doesn't do us any good to have stats at the expense of work because the server has locked up. I had to drop out of challenge mode and restart other projects last night after my main machine spent over 3 hours unable to get WUs and all cores went idle. :(

Please enable PPS sieve for my account. Thanks.

Okay time to throw my results so far into the mix:

C2Q Q6600 @ 2.4GHz Vista HP 64
Current results: 6.21% at 11:17 hours in
Estimated time to completion at current speed ~ 182 hours (aka ~7.6 days)
Running concurrently with other boinc projects, but no other Primegrid LLR workunits

Hmm... I have one that's been hanging around since last June, too:

Since I'm flying out on the 20th and won't be able to run the full challenge anyway, I'll set my machines over to 100% Primegrid LLRing here as soon as my Collatz and Cosmo WU's finish up. :)

Found out my antivirus says that there was trojan attached to it an Artemis !C85FB5F93D9A So I have just sent it to McAfee must be their last upgrade

If you check the Number Crunching section, you will see that there is already a thread warning about this issue here: http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=1468

McAfee has already been notified about false positives with both the 5.09 and 5.10 llr wrappers and should be working to fix the problem asap.

Hey guys. I just spent the last half an hour talking with the McAfee service reps to get this thing sorted out. Once I get a copy of all the files that are falsely triggering a positive and send it to them, they said they'll try and get the stuff de-listed. I'll update you when I know more.

[edit] *Update: I've submitted both llr wrappers 5.09 and 5.10 to McAfee so they can get this fixed. Hopefully I'll hear back from them soon. [/edit]
