Umm.. you seem to have taken what I said quite personally bcavnaugh. Sorry that I struck a nerve but my comments weren't really directed at yourself.

"You identify BOINC Members as Wealthy"

No, I call people with 15 or 20 high end RTX cards and high end CPU's as being wealthy. You can't deny that fact when you look at the hardware. Am I jealous of that? Perhaps. Would I do the same if I had that much money? Probably. Does having all that hardware mean a little less luck is required to find a prime? Of course.

"You should see just how much money it costs to have a hobby in Astronomy and Astrophotography."

Actually I own a 10" dobsonian telescope so I'm well aware of the costs with that hobby. (I'm not into the photography side though because I'd need a scope with tracking.)

"You also forgot to post that a lot of the Big Hitters are also using Work Computer as well as Other Team Members and Friends and even Coin Mining Computers to to run under their Username"

I've been openly vocal over the years about my thoughts on Gridcoin. I won't be going there today.

"Maybe you should find a Poor Mans Hobby and collect cans in a Shopping Cart."
Gee harsh! I do collect can for a bit extra money thanks. Feel better?

When I made this comment - "There are some people I’m rooting for over others in this challenge but I’m just a spectator really" I was ACTUALLY meaning that I was rooting for FOR YOU over some other PG crunchers. My guess is you misinterpreted that sir.

I'm going to assume a bit of miscommunication here Mr Cavnaugh... although you did say that you've had posts moderated here before so perhaps you're just another grumpy, old retiree. I've seen a few of that lately around here (BOINC)

Goodluck.

Not really but thank you, I have one one member to take over and that is myself from last year and the year before. Being this Event is most likely the only one I will be doing on PG as I do not plan on running in any PrimeGrid's Challenge Series this year and maybe even the next.
I do mostly give away my old hardware and will do the same with what I have now and do not plan to buy any more so I have what I have and that is it.

I won’t be congratulation crunchers for being wealthy enough to buy all the best gear and find a heap of primes.

It is a hobby like any other and being poor or rich has nothing to do with what with what hobby you like and plan to do over the years.
You identify BOINC Members as Wealthy only because they enjoy this hobby and cannot afford more yourself or are unwilling to do so and just complain about it.
You should see just how much money it costs to have a hobby in Astronomy and Astrophotography.
You also forgot to post that a lot of the Big Hitters are also using Work Computer as well as Other Team Members and Friends and even Coin Mining Computers to to run under their Username and lets not forget the Members that use Hundreds of School Computers as well to run in Events like this.
Not so different when Members from one Team run under a Different Team only to smash another Team from winning the Event and so on and so on.
keeping up with the Jones’s or the Smith's is Old School and Stupid unless you are Homer Simpson.
Maybe you should find a Poor Mans Hobby and collect cans in a Shopping Cart.
Oh and what I spend my money on in Retirement is 100% my choice.
And I thought my writing was poor

And No Primes Found in the last 24 Hours. Paid for with my own money and I pay my own Electric Bill.
It is what I do in Retirement, you chose to do what you want when you Retire, if you can that is.

Unfortunately challenges here are in the stupid territory. I'm not trying to offend anyone here. Just stating opinion. Since it takes no skill and you can just throw money at this project, it leaves anyone out who doesn't have the money or want to spend thousands on 50+ computers and GPUs spending hundreds a month on electricity. I've given up on challenges a long time ago and try to crunch stuff that is not on the radar at the moment. Now this month long challenge had been appealing because it lasts so long but even crunching tens of thousands of units has no chance when others are doing 100,000's or even millions of units. Then throw in the random server unit sending scenarios and people abandoning thousands of tasks and it makes it even dumber. Unless you want to be just lucky or really want to just solve conjectures this stuff isn't for the casual user.

So Everybody here is "Stupid" Well I guess then I must Be as Stupid as your Post then.
BTW I am not at all Offend by your Post, Carry On or Move On Cruncher.

Aww c'mon bcavnaugh.... save some primes for the rest of us mate!! :p

I could say something but will not talk about other members or teams on this Forum :-D.
My Electric Bill will be close to $600 running this Event and last year it was in the upper $500 as well.
But I will save you one on the 29th at the Zero Hour ;-).

I don't believe anyone is harming the process nor are they slowing progress down. In my opinion, this current TdP is actually doing more work than any other. I don't have the numbers to back that up and it's just my opinion.
Cheers Rick

It slows down finding Primes when you are running tasks that were aborted 2, 3, or even four days passed and have already have the first task completed.
But I was band here on the Forum for talking about this subject so be careful what members post about this subject.
But it is really only slowing progress down during the Tour de Primes Event being that we are looking for Primes and not Points or Coin.
We also have a lot of members that run PrimeGrid and are not looking at the website to see what Events are going on and really do not care if one is or is not running ATM.

"You should also set your project priority for PrimeGrid to 0 to eliminate BOINC's prefetch of tasks."

Where is this setting?

See image in Post https://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=8987&nowrap=true#137366

In the Client Tool here as well

Having issues getting PPSE (LLR) v8.04 (mt) Task and because of this I am getting 3 Tasks Genefer 16 v3.21 (OCLcudaGFN16) One Running and 2 Waiting to Run. I am NOT seeing this Issue on any other Host Running Windows 10.

If it's in a different venue than the other systems then make sure that venue has Resource Share set to 0 instead of the default of 100.

Thank you,
All my settings are the same and all my settings are set to Zero (0) for Resource Share.

Linux Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS [4.15.0-87-generic|libc 2.27 (Ubuntu GLIBC 2.27-3ubuntu1)]
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-3970X CPU @ 3.50GHz [Family 6 Model 45 Stepping 7]
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1080 Ti (4095MB) driver: 44044
BOINC version 7.16.3
Host https://www.primegrid.com/show_host_detail.php?hostid=917582
Same issue running Genefer 17 Low v3.21 (OCLcudaGFN17LOW) But had to stop running this one because of so many errors from other members with Graphics Driver Issues.
So I can only run 1 GPU Task and No CPU Tasks, Kind of a Bummer.

PS my Settings are the Same on my Windows 10 Host and I am NOT having this same problem.
