Tasks will took 4-8 hours on modern processors with FMA3 (for a single core). LLR multithreading will help to use CPU cache better and improve overall throughput.
Just a quick question for understanding this since I'm currently a bit wondering about my runtimes in comparison to others sometimes:
Is this app ONLY using FMA3 or does it also use others like AVX etc.?
Well, even if there was a typo there which I fixed before even trying first, this "minimal" xml doesn't work (for me) - I get a syntax error nevertheless and lost my wus several times now.
As far as I could see in the project folder the app name is NOT gfn16_mega but cllr220.127.116.11.exe, so I tried it with a more detailed one like this:
<user_friendly_name>GFN-16 MEGA Prime Search</user_friendly_name>
But it still doesn't work - I don't get where the mistake is...
Well, these units are harsh on my 1080s, maxing out their fans, unlike the easier going units do.
And that means noise.
That surprises me a bit.
My GTX960 is taking my task more or less "lightly" and doesn't sound louder than usual.
While usage is at 100% of course, the fan is "only" at 70% with around 1800 rpm and temperature is around 70Â°C.
However, have to add that my comps case is opened by default. I guess it would be a bit higher if it was closed completely.
I mentioned on the WUProp forums that we had a new app running. That should bring in some players. They're always desperate for more apps.
"Desperate" is a harsh word to say. ;-)
You wouldn't have to mention it on WUProp because I believe PrimeGrid-apps are being intaken automatically there.
But not putting the new app in a news item was rather mean from my point of view because I follow almost every project with an RSS feed. ;-)
I wonder if I should try one on my GTX 550ti???
Well, I bet it won't work without having the system extremly lagging - if it works anyway. I remember I wanted to update my early 550Ti years ago with a modern CUDA version - wasn't even possible for an unknown reason...
I have one task running on a GTX 960 and it makes my host a bit sluggy. Cannot play without stopping the task and even doing other work is slighty hard, so I let it run for now.
At the current rate it will finish with a 7-day runtime - good that the deadline is long enough because at the end of this week I have to turn the host out for a few days.

I'm a bit surprised...
While AP27s are usually done in the half time on my GTX960 in reference to my GTX760, these PPS sieves here are done in the same time on both cards - about 1000 seconds.
Can anyone explain this?
