Wow! My computer Bake is fully baked. Control Alt Delete won't reach it. Looks like I'll need to dump the last 2 WUs it is doing and revert windows to earlier settings. #*!! windows!

System restore didn't work. Its reinstall windows time. I'm glad this is happening at the end of the challenge and not in the middle of it.

It's looking like I'll have 79 * WUs in by the end of the challenge. Not quite cracking 80

I will make it to 80 - maybe 81

My 2nd computer - Bake - crashed in the night - back to 79
Looks like the windows revert to earlier settings that I did at the start of the challenge didn't work. Or windows has updated itself again to whatever is clashing.

My memory is 3000...

My memory is 1960 and if ever there was hyper-threading on the old cpu it's been long removed.

Hyper-threading is mostly a waste of space - or - how can we make our CPUs run hotter with little or no return? GCW sieve was an exception - it made a considerable improvement for computer 2 and didn't raise the temp too much

My memory is 3000 in the 9900K and it runs at 4.7GHz (turbo).
And 4000 in the 9960X which has some turbo when only using 8 cores.
I turned off XMP for the 9960X because it was freezing up.
I actually don't know if XMP is on for the 9900K.
I've got hyper-threading turned off for both computers - though I'll turn it on again if I am doing CPU sieve work.

Regarding the 9900K, I'd go as Gary is doing: 8 threaded ESP WUs.
On a rough average
- in 94,500 seconds you do 6 units.
- in the same time, he does 945,00/9,800 = 9.6 units.

Do correct me if I'm way out here.

I am sure your maths is good. It's too late for this challenge, but it looks like I'll need to make the effort to work out how to do multi-threading. I was hoping there wasn't going to be so big a difference.

On the i9 9900K, I am only doing 6 ESP WUs at a time as it takes proportionally longer if I do 7 (or 8) - if that makes any sense. On the other computer I am only doing 8 ESP WUs because I start getting current throttling if I do more. I actually get some current throttling at 8 but its not all the time
