Number crunching :
Have I found a prime or not? I'm confused...

Hi all,
Please excuse my lack of knowledge, but I stopped running PrimeGrid for a while and just picked it back up last week...
On the 'My Account' page, it says this under the 'Tasks Returned in the Past 24 Hours' section:
Sub Project-_________|_Host___________|_Tasks__|_Firsts_
Sophie Germain (LLR)__|_BRETT-DESKTOP_|___4___|__2___
which led me to believe that I had found 2 primes through the Sophie Germain application. But, when I go to the Prime Number List it says that I have no primes. I am just wondering what the Sophie Germain 'Firsts' are referring to if not found primes. Thank you in advance,
Brett | |

The "firsts" are counts of tasks that you returned before the double checking user in the last 24 hours. They aren't a count of primes.
Primes you find will show up on a line called "discoveries" and if you are the initial finder, you'll get a notification by a message in your account and email (if you set it up).

On average there's about one prime in 14 000 SGS tasks. Just any prime though, not a Sophie Germain prime.
____________
Primes: 1281979 & 12+8+1979 & 1+2+8+1+9+7+9 & 1^2+2^2+8^2+1^2+9^2+7^2+9^2 & 12*8+19*79 & 12^8-1979 & 1281979 + 4 (cousin prime)

The number 2 represents that you were the first person to finish those 2 tasks so IF there was a prime number in those tasks you would have gotten credit for it, but unfortunately there wasn't a prime number so you keep on crunching.
My latest runs got this:
PPSE (LLR) 24 11
PPS-Mega (LLR) 61 61
Genefer 19 2 2
As you can see lots of firsts but unfortunately no primes for me either.

I got it. Thank you so much. It's not the end of the world, to be frank, I was a little suspicious because that seemed like a lot in such a short amount of time. Even if I don't get one, I'll keep on sieving (and also doing LLRs, I just didn't have a verb for that).

Not giving up is the key to finding a Prime, you need to go thru all the rocks to find the diamond. The good and bad thing is that others are doing the same thing in the same rock pile. Meaning the more rocks they find the fewer you have to go thru, but so do they.
