Maybe one more stupid question? but...
What will PrimeGrid do if tasks for one or another subproject (for example SoB) become too large (like recently disabled CPU GFN22)? Can it be prevented?

What is too large?
On what hardware?

During the years on PG, I witnessed projects to progress and tasks growing.
But I also witnessed apps speed optimalization (AVX, AVX-512), usage of GPUs, multi-threading etc.
HW and SW is also progressing.

*if* it comes to that point (for example, only 1 k of SoB remains and is ridiculously advanced), I can imagine pausing such a project if even best HW can't do thre job in a reasonable task running 24/7.

But I can't imagine there would be *no* participants willing to run 24/7 on best HW to finally finishing SoB and get the eternal fame!

That was shutdown because when I turned it on, I mistakenly believed it supported multithreading. It should never have been turned on in the first place.

The progress that is made on the various projects is actually moderately amazing. I remember when the leading edge on SoB was half of what it is today, and that was about a decade ago. Amazing when you consider the double check that happened as well.

Also factor in that PrimeGrid has added many more projects over the year that have taken focus away from some of the older projects. Imagine where the leading edge on Cullen and Woodall would be if none of the other projects were added after that.

Technology is advancing just as fast, if not faster than the compute complexity of the leading edges.

Back when it was all fields around these parts it used to take days to run a single SoB, now I can run 4/day.
