PrimeGrid seems to want to down load many more tasks than my computers are able to complete on time. The non-PG loading is very low on each of these, but they are always aborting tasks. It doesn't seem very efficient for PG to continue doing so. I'm not sure this is a comment or a question, assuming that I have control of the situation.

Not an answer, but it depends on your Computing preferences, for example "Maintain enough work for an additional ... days", and your PrimeGrid settings, for example "Multi-threading: Max # of threads for each task". Each in the relevant "venue" (like default, home, Mercury, Venus) for that computer. Also depends on BOINC version and other things. /JeppeSN

I find setting "Max # of simultaneous PrimeGrid tasks" in Job control section of
PrimeGrid preferences, to the most tasks you ever want to download will prevent accidents.
I do not recommend the "No limit" setting. If you have "No limit" set, there is always the possibility of downloading 100's jobs accidently.
I've learned my PrimeGrid lesson. I'm an experienced PrimeGrid user, and have accidently downloaded
100's of jobs more than once until I changed "No limit" to a reasonable max # of jobs.

It seems curious that BOINC isn't better programmed by now to avoid this situation, though I never had the issue at S@H. Perhaps it isn't a huge problem for PG and so I shouldn't worry about it. I have gone back to 0 extra work, 0 days to see if the #aborts goes down. thx.

Boinc was first made in in the 2000's, it's now almost 2 decades later, sure there have been upgrades but the basic idea regarding work computation is still in there. Until the Developers have a good reason to change things it may stay that way for awhile to come. There is a Developers mailing group if you'd like to suggest some changes, but as always one change can affect more than just one part of the whole.
