Yes sorry - I was in the middle of a conference call when I created the thread.. note to self make sure to not do that in the future.
So from Rogers post here is a snippet.
"From March 5th 18:00:00 UTC until March 10th 18:00:00 UTC we will be having a 5 day challenge running the Generalised Cullen/Woodall Prime Search (LLR) Project to celebrate the Year of the Pig. "
So the start time is fairly normal and here's the link to the main thread https://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=8462.
I plan on being all in. I know some of us have new stuff to show off Gary :)
I'm wondering how the shorter time frame will affect the bunker boys.
I guess that it fixing to get cold again here is good news?
Oh and I appoint Eudy as official stat keeper and poster :)
Go AtP ! | |

I'll participate.
Will also try to post updated stats (any help will appreciated).
But official poster, better not.
I'll post the numbers and you guys post the comments :)

I have received the replacement i7 7700k from Intel. However, I have no video for some reason. I will sit down tomorrow and start with a new hard disk in the event the existing disk with drivers for the MSI H110 Pro-VD is the problem since I am now using an MSI H110 Pro-VH mobo.
If I can get the system going, I will participate for sure. If not, I will use those five days for GCW Sieve since my RAC will drop from 310k to 205k per day (without the i7 7700k) once TdP is over. There is lots of time ahead for GCW Sieve but I do want this marathon (100M) to end as soon as possible for various reasons.
|
|
I'll be in with the new stuff and the old.

I'll be there. Just got in some new memory and now have another box running quad channel. :)

I'm in but as it is relatively warm for the time of year I'm not sure how much I can throw at it.

I SUPPOSE that you will all be privileged enough to have my Haswell in the mix. Not that I won't be miserly working out my credits with a pen and paper. Did you hear about the constipated mathematician? He worked it out with a pencil.

These are some pretty big candidates... are we going single core per task or do you think 2 cores per task?

Why not use every core you're got on a separate thread, i.e. just one BOINC task at a time? Best to get them done as fast as possible; this is a short challenge compared to the task length.

I run everything PPS-MEGA or larger on all 4 threads.

Me too.
Edit:
I also manage to set affinity, which I believe helps a bit when HT is on.
On a 4 core system, with Hyperthreading on (so, 8 CPUs)
I set each multithreaded task (-t4) to use CPUs 0, 2, 4 and 6.

A few days before the end of TdP, I switched all of my systems onto PPS-MEGA using two cores per task. Well, I was getting wiped out by everyone and where I was coming in second in about 55 to 60% of my units. Within a few hours, I switched back to PPSE.
|
|
@AA are we on again? I beat you in the TdP. Ha

Biggest I've seen is 1680k FFT in pre-testing. You probably want to run all cores multi-thread on any consumer level CPU.
|
|
@AA are we on again? I beat you in the TdP. Ha
I have yet to sit down to look after the i7 7700k system and where I will probably need a fresh install from scratch since the existing hard disk has the mobo drivers for the MSI H110M Pro-VD whereas my backup mobo to be used is for the MSI H110M Pro-VH.
If I do manage to sit down and go through all the loops and have the system up and running at some point today, I will indeed participate with the new challenge. Otherwise, I will stick with GCW Sieve which I would like to get out of the way (24 hrs away from 92M credits with 100M being my ultimate target).
I will post a follow-up at some point today or tomorrow either way.

Mighty quiet around here. Guess the TdP took it's toll.

Just a reminder to get those app_config files setup with multi-threading

Looks like forecast for the next week or so is somewhat cool, so might be able to put a bit more on this than otherwise. Will see how it balances out.

of course, this challenge kicks off in the middle of my workday, so I'll probably be a few hours late to the party... switched to SGS for now to allow a quickish changeover

Gents,
Best of luck with the GCW LLR challenge.
I will be sitting this one out so as to finish up with GCW Sieve later this month. We also have 321 Sieve starting shortly which means an even greater urgency for me to finish up with GCW Sieve.

From what I understand the 321 Sieve will be on for quite some time (please correct me if I am wrong) so it sounds to me like you are just a little tired of my dominance :)
Of course you know I am just kidding.

Actually I am tired of GCW Sieve and where I have been at it for about a year. I am very eager to be over and done with it once and for all. Just to give you an idea, my target was 20M and the Sapphire badge. Once Michael gave us a heads-up, I decided to go for 50M and Emerald. Once there, I realized that I had a chance for 100M and the Bronze Shield which explains the overdosing.
Anyway, I have overdosed on GCW Sieve and I do want to be done with it. Yes, 321 Sieve will run for some time but I will spend a day or two once it becomes available just to load the new badge onto my account stats and then back to ... what else, GCW Sieve.
The GCW LLR challenge would delay the end of GCW Sieve at my end by five days and this is something I would like to avoid (vis a vis serious overdose in progress and which must come to an end).

Well, I seem to be pigging out on schedule.
Remember that comparing runtimes between tasks on GCW LLR is hopeless because the 'k' values are all over the place.

Celeron is (sn)out of contention - 16 days per task! That is a *truffle* too long.
Come on keep it up. | |
|

Pigged up 2 WU@4t for Aggie.
Nice! (edit: wonder how this will count on the team)
Changed my prefs for all settings to get GCW. Hour later remembered that I forgot some of the app_configs on my older systems. Then on 2 more, I just killed the jobs and turned off the cpu side as these poor souls are just too slow.
Got 10 running now so we'll wait and see.
Go ATP!!! | |

Fast systems have already posted on the results page. Those guys are fast!

Oops.. had some hardcoded values for the first challenge in my code, started inserting data into the wrong tables! All good now...
https://statsgr.id/challenge.php?challenge_id=2019_2 should be ready to go now for this challenge, and the previous challenge is fixed :)
Was surprised how quickly units started getting returned this time around

Hmm... I'm feeling an upgrade itch now! My fastest system is estimating around 4 hours, and I didn't start on the dot so there will be some delay before my units roll in.

Your script seems to have picked up DN correctly. Or you worked some magic.
edit: sorry I am not sure how I missed but his name has an extra l so it's DeleteNulll which would avoid confusion.
edit: @DeleteNull - will you be upset if the few units you generate here would've helped SG?

Hey, you got eagle eyes !
I had never noticed the triple "L".
Anyway, I track users by their id. So the user name is not an issue.
See how many users have screen name John:

No. Both boxed didn't take part in the previous challenges. So this is just a small addition for "Aggie The Pew" to say "Hello!" and not a minus for SG ;)

I had never noticed the triple "L".
Preparing the challenge I thought that there is probably a problem with this name confusion. After the third beer I decided for the third L.

Temps remaining cool around here, just put on another system.

I have just about everything I can on. I even got back one of the systems that is having issues running before I send it off to be fixed.
Go AtP !!
edit: @AA it's probably for the best you didn't accept my challenge this time as I was not planning on have an extra system.

I'm making the top 100 again for the first time in a while. Yay! Staying with this project for a while to hopefully "badge up" in a few days.
Was running AP27 during the challenge on GPU but have now switched to GFN22. After that, I may feel lucky.
