"Random" is the safest response.

I tend to pick a single project for each "class" of machine and GPU I have. It keeps it simpler, and avoids any surprises down the line, like how did that machine get fully loaded with SoBs?

For example, I have my avx2/fma3 capable machines set up as "home", and I feed them a longer LLR task. My avx capable machines are set up as "school" and get shorter LLR tasks. My non-avx capable machines are set up as "work" and get either really short LLR tasks or get lower N GFN tasks (which can't avail themselves of avx). But I generally only have one (or two at most) projects working by class/location.

For each of my machines I have assigned a member of the solar system for identification (ex Sun, Jupiter, Earth, Mars etc) and where I then proceeded to customize the project selections for each planet (ex Jupiter) so that work units best matching that planet (system) are downloaded for execution by that system.

For example, for Jupiter (i7 6700k Skylake with GTX 1080) I have a steady diet of GCW Sieve for the CPU and AP27 for the GPU. I have the same selections for Earth (i3 6300 Skylake with GTX 1060) whereas Mars (i3 6100 Skylake, no GPU) is strictly GCW Sieve. For Neptune and Uranus (my two C2D 2.67 GHz Dell laptops) I have them doing strictly GCW Sieve since this is where I get the best performance out of these older CPU's. For Sun (i7 3630QM with GTX 660M), I have GCW Sieve for the CPU and PPS Sieve for the archaic GPU since the latter performs best with PPS Sieve running under the GPU.

I'm thinking it's not truly random but have nothing to base this on other than when I pick multiple projects like gfn15 and gfn16. One person I think who might be able to answer as he seems to have clicked on everything is JohnK. Again am not completely sure.

LOTR and Rick decide. They hold a ceremony involving the burning of incense and toilet paper, and the latest powerball lottery results.

Seriously though, I pick only one sub-project at a time for each computer/venue. I've only got a few boxes so it's straightforward for me.

Random is answer, but truly random. I noticed that when I select GFN 17 and GFN 18. I got xy GFN 18 tasks before I gone one GFN 17 task. When you select all tasks , and leave that like 6 months,I can bet that you will have in the end of that period equal number of tasks for all projects
