Just a short question: Yesterday I hooked up my R9 290X to PrimeGrid again but although I believe all the settings are correctly in place, I do not receive any WUs for this graphics board.
I would just like to selectively participate in the projects that employ AMD/ATI/OpenCL which are:
PPS-Sieve
GFN-Short
GFN-WR
Any idea what might be going on?
Michael.

Hard to say, your computers are hidden. It's also worth checking the BOINC Event Log for messages re: the scheduler. This may give a clue to what's wrong.

Well, for two of the three sub-projects (GFN) I had to manually download the apps (http://www.primegrid.com/download/) and specify a configuration file. For the third (PPS-Sieve) I did not find the app at all.
1. How does this project expect support if these things have to be done manually?
2. Why is PPS-Sieve shown as an ATI GPU-supporting project when after all there appears no app to be present?
Michael.

It might be helpful if you would 'unhide' your computers on your PrimeGrid account so knowledgeable folks could be able to aid in troubleshooting.
I've not had to manually download apps for any BOINC project, including PrimeGrid. |

Michael, hard to tell if it is unknown what GPU(s) are we talking about.
Running both AMD cards and nVidia cards without any need for app_info (both GFN and PPS Sieve).
If you had looked at Application page, you would have seen there are 15 different apps for PPS Sieve that covers Win, Linux na MacOs.
There is no name listed (and some subprojects shares the same app) but could be matches using dates.
For inspiration how to use it in app_info, look at app_info.xml for PPS (Sieve) or App_info file threads.

Well, that might have to do with the possibility that BOINC does not report the R9 290X appropriately? An issue happening often when e.g. using ARM systems with certain Linux distributions such as Arch.

Hmmm, maybe I have overlooked something here, but I checked that page earlier and couldn't see information on GPU apps and those are the only ones I am interested in.
Michael.
P.S.: I did unhide my machines but I do not believe it will help you guys much.

Quite possibly. See thread http://www.primegrid.com/forum_thread.php?id=6145

As of 08:15 UTC, your computers are still hidden. The project people may be able to see certain error messages generated by BOINC that normal PrimeGrid participants cannot. |

Yes. That's what I said above. But what about work for the third ATI GPU project for which I could not find an app (PPS-Sieve)?
Michael.

Do you have this in your PG Preferences on the website?
Proth Prime Search Sieve (PPS-Sieve) Nvidia GPU (CUDA)
AMD/ATI GPU (OpenCL)
I do and get them anytime I want them, unless there just aren't any to be had. |

Assuming I'm reading this thread properly, the executable names for PPS Sieving under Windows using OpenCL are:
primegrid_tpsieve_1.39_windows_intelx86__ati13ati.exe
primegrid_tpsieve_1.39_windows_intelx86__atiPPSsieve.exe
Those two are the exact same program, bit-for-bit identical, use whichever you like.

Thanks for the info on the app files.
