Better than my attempt! I didn't have much time between getting home from work and the moon dropping below some clouds, and only got a few test shots off.

Sadly I didn't manage to get out with camera and tripod, but good naked-eye viewing both last night and this evening. Thanks for posting the pics!

I saw this close approach from the clear, dark skies of Death Valley, California on Friday evening. It was quite striking. Sadly, this was a hiking trip over very rough terrain, so one generally carries a small lightweight point-and-shoot rather than heavy astro-photography-worthy equipment. So, no photos :-(
Shortly after sunset in my time zone (western USA), the moon had moved "up and left" (relative to the photos posted) so that it formed almost a right triangle with Venus and Mars. Slightly past that point, but still very attractive.
On Saturday evening, Venus and Mars were even closer together, but the Moon had moved well away. Sunday the SW USA weather turned cloudy so no one will see anything.
Thanks for the photos, both of you!
