Sorry, It's been a quiet day and a half or so on the forums here, so I thought I'd just start a new thread and say hi to all of ATP and to say how glad I am that its just about the weekend now! :-)
So feel free to give your random shout outs here! |

Brilliant a true masterpiece. It is a well chosen user name.
As a matter of fact a grown-up rats ears are almost bald; baby rats have furry ears. Furry ears are way better in the graphic tho'.
As for weekends well mine started nearly 24 hours ago. I now don't work Fridays and it is wonderful. All I need to do now is cut my working hours back by 4 days a week...

Well the weekend is just ending for me here on the west coast; our teammates in the UK are likely already up and about for a new work-week. I've got a loaf of sourdough baking in the bread machine so my humble home has a nice aroma at this hour.
It was a fine weekend. Okay, off to bed now. Good night, Aggie (et.al.).

Just wanted to let everyone know that this week I'll be transitioning into a new apartment, so I'm not sure when I'll get internet in the new place, or when I'll start moving my computers over. (its just across town). So for the next week or so, I may not be crunching at full force.
Also, a lesson I learned this weekend, check the weather before you leave for the weekend!!! I was gone all weekend, left all machines crunching full force (including my AMD 6990) and I got home today and its 95 outside...meaning it was 115+ in my apartment. :-( I'm glad I guess my computers didnt literally burn. I won't tell you the CPU and GPU temps though...too scary! |

So you aren't in the UK then...
I hope the move goes well.
I kinda hope you know the AtP rules and are transitioning the computers accordingly.
Cheers!

Ouch....115 degree ambient. Well at least you know how hot a CPU/GPU can get and still function. Glad all the hardware is ok.
Good luck with the move! If you need any help with the move, uh...just call, uh, Rick and Neo. |

*Lovely* to start this weekend with a minor earthquake here in L.A. It was only a 3.3 according to the USGS but the epicenter was only 4 miles from home so oh yes, I felt it... a brief sharp jolt. It was just a couple hours ago. No damage, and life goes on.

I'm headed out of town in a few hours, taking an extra day off from work to make it a long weekend. I'll be mostly off-line for the duration, except for occasional email/boards and whatever the little laptop chooses to deliver.
See you all late Sunday; have a good weekend! Go AtP!

Have a great weekend! I know I am.. going to Dallas/Ft Worth to play golf 2 days and eat at Joe T Garcia's! |

I've been fairly quiet the last month or so on here...just got busy with the move, and then focused on long running WUs for badge upgrades instead of the 'fun' on PRPNet and stuff.. so i just haven't been as active.
So i figured I'd just send a shout out to everyone and say have a great weekend! :-)
Most of my badge hunting should be done by the next challenge. My goal by then, is to have only SoB be my remaining bronze.

Mark you've been missed on the boards but congratulations on the great work! I'm thinking about making a run at some of the longer tasks myself, with all of that bronze staring me in the face.
I'm checking in now Friday afternoon from Lone Pine, CA, in anticipation of hiking up Mt. Whitney tomorrow. We'll start around 3AM and it will take 14 hours, with 6000' gain and 21 miles round trip. At least it will be cool on the summit!

p.s. obviously the wi-fi does work at the motel... :-) |

sounds like quite the adventure! have fun Gary! be safe.

The climb was successful for all six people in my group, although it was slower than expected for everyone... on the order of 15+ hours on one's feet. Yikes that's a long time. But, 100+ mile views in all directions for California/Nevada mountain and desert scenery from the summit! Amazing!
Driving back home to L.A. early afternoon Sunday.

Sounds like Gary had a fantastic trip.
I've had a week away. Came back to find Dido rat had got bored and gnawed her way out of her cage and through some books of mine.
I was in Ciutadella and saw this http://i1132.photobucket.com/albums/m579/Aggie_The_Pew/P8120011.jpg which seemed slightly familiar.

Rick, I played in a Pro-Am tourney yesterday, and probably played the round of my life. Shot a 73 from the black tees on a championship course. Slope 146. I won low amateur gross and net. (I'm not that good, but hit every miracle shot I needed and drained every putt. Doubt it will happen again.) Ever have one of those rounds?

That's amazing!! Congrats!
Only times I've played a championship course, I've just gotten destroyed. Too much sand! :-) It was like they designed the course saying, "where would the average amateur hit the ball? Well, lets put a sand trap there."

Wow, that's really good ! Sounds like you won everything in sight. I've had a couple of good rounds where I couldn't do anything wrong and several rounds where I one putted 80% of the greens. But you sould like you did much better than I ever have... congrats |

Meanwhile in other news Dido Rat is turning into the murine Captain Virgil Hilts. Broke out of her cage again last night. Evidently had a good wander round the house helping herself to bread and a flower from the kitchen before heading to the dining room for a tour of the bookshelves.
There is the sound of a baseball being thrown at the wall of her box coming from her cage.
So weekend for me includes sourcing a degu cage to try and foil her.

I hope everyone is enjoying what is left of their weekend, a long one, for those of us here in the U S of A.
Hey Rick, I hope you're far enough north to not be affected by TS Lee?? My dad lives near Asheville NC and they're supposed to get about 8 inches of rain over the next few days, from the remnants of the storm.

I jugged the rat vermin. Dido Rat had taken to breaking out by gnawing through the thick plastic base of her cage. Now they are in an all metal degu cage and I don't believe she'll easily get out of that. Seems to have stopped them acting out WW2 escape movies too.

what a crazy weekend!
So no need to worry, only 12 hours after waking up to a FLOOD of water pouring into my apartment from every which way, I am back at full capacity on primeGrid. :-)
(water line broke in apartment above me.. 100+ gallons of water flooded that apartment..which in turn destroyed mine)
____________

Hhhmm that is probably taking water-cooling too far.
Hope you get it sorted soon.

Interestingly enough, I'd say its taking air cooling a bit too far. I have 13 industrial strength fans in my apartment pushing air in every which way trying to dry the inside if the walls out. Besides trying to sleep with insane amounts of noise..the bonus is, it really is keeping air moving through my computers. =)

Mark, good luck with the fans. I had a leak in my foundation some years ago. Watch for mold for a while. I ended up replacing some dry-wall. If you have carpet maybe get them to replace the padding. It's a pain. Sorry dude..... |
