How does Boinc/PG assign WU to a user when several (in my case 2) projects are selected?
It can't be at random, because I get about 4 times more SGS LLR WUs than PPS LLR WUs.
It also can't be about equality of running time or credits because SGS LLR WUs take of course longer than PPS LLR WUs.
...so how are these WUs assigned?
Pardon if the question seems stupid, I just don't know the answer and haven't found it in the forum.
Thx!

The work distribution between subprojects is controlled from the server side. We send more work for the projects that need more "push". At the moment SGS gets 1.5 times more work than PPS. Note that is for the count of tasks and not the runtime.

That's interesting... in the past I've generally found PPS getting sent far more often than SGS. I have those two turned off now, it feels like I'm getting far more TRP units than others. Woodall being a significant second and hardly any Cullen/PSP.

Back on PPS, out of curiosity could I ask why the change in relative priority to SGS? I assume there's enough top5000 headroom. Anything to do with the recent sieve speed perhaps altering the balance of value between sieve/LLR?

We now have a very fast sieve application for PPS, so it makes sense to do more sieving than LLRing at the moment.

Yay! I guessed right!

I think "very fast" is an understatement... you're going to need more badge colours soon!

Thx for helping a newby out with those quick answers!

Another question: Did somebody work out the probability of a PPS/SGS LLR WU being prime?
According to the stat pages(12/04/10) the "absolute" probabilities are:
PPS: 0.01675% = 5766/34424868 [*]
SGS: 0.01091% = 1078/9876555 [*]
[*prime WUs / total WUs]
But those aren't the "real" probabilities because the prob.'s decline when the testing numbers increase...
