I was battlimg a while trying to understand why I'm not getting WUs. And here's the answer: on this rig I'm running windows x64 and there is no app for this architecture at all.
I wonder if there is a chance to compile app for x64?

The operator would only allow that the 64-bit clients get the 32-bit ATI applications. ;) |

correct me if I'm wrong. All I need to do is just download app by myself and I'm ready to go? Or what should I do?

Hi, does PrimeGrid need DP GPU's like MilkyWay or the 5770 are ok to crunch PrimeGrid?
I installed the app like abouve showen but i dont get a Wu this time, Messagewindow say the projekt maybe down for maintaince.
--
Befor i use a 9500GT that need around 1h30-40min for a Wu. I got a 9800GT at work PC around ~40min for a Wu.
Know i have a 5770 here at home for Shorttime testing, not my own. I thing about a buying a gtx470 or a 5850 for around 180€.
Not sure Ati or nVidia in the future for a new crunch system, nVidia seem to support more GPU Projekts.

It's been Posted that a DP Card is not needed for the tpsieve Wu's.
True the NVIDIA Cards are supported by more Projects but the ATI Cards earn way more Credit at the DNET, Milkyway & Collatz Projects. Right now the PG Project Pays more for the NVIDIA Cards (Newer Ones anyway) but it could be just a short lived thing with all the GPU Power being brought to the Project & then ??? you'll have to live with the other GPU Project's ...

I might be rite on yours 5870s. My 4870 & 4890 bring me 110-120k on MW and somewhat 90k on PrimeGrid. Well, it's less, but not that much :-) I can live with that as backup project

The 5770(@960 Mhz) creates about 105k Cr. a day. (says Mr. Ice @ Planet 3DNow!)
My 5870 (@850 Mhz) is crunshing 186k a Cr./Day. This Day :-D

OK now i got it. thx for the guidance.
PGride dont heat even like dnect, so i can increase also the gpu to 900mhz.
Very nice, thx.
Edit
Maybe the 6870 can take place in my nearly future PC. ;)

IMO better take GTX 570 or smth like that.
my pretty ancient GTX275 gives me somewhat 180k per day, exactly like 5870 ;-)

Ok i got it, a MSI 5850 TwinFrozr for 190€ ( incl Vat ).
I see the price even right now and was out of air ^^
For this price i dont thing about a 6870 anyway. I got DP for the same price and the same SP Power. Gaming and Tessalation are dinky for me anyway.
lucky now. ^^

Thanks for help with app for ati... :-)
but i lost 4 SoB and about 360 hours...f**k
so information, if you have any other primegrid computing save twice...in other case you lost your work.. :-(

I had issues with my AMD 5770 (factory overclocked). Sieve was crashing all the time!
Downloaded Stream SDK (just google it from the AMD-website!).
Resolved it all - Now running fine. |
|

|
After a 6 hour struggle, I once more was trying to get this to work on Win7-64 and in my case finally figured out the issue... Unlike before where you could mix ATI and CUDA cards, the last two driver versions will not load if there is a NVIDIA card installed. Well, not totally true, the driver installs and works (ATI was primary display and it worked), but no GPU computing ... BOINC will not see the card though it is working fine... pull the nvidia card and the ATI card is fine... put in a second ATI card and that is fine as well...
Not sure if this is a detection problem... or a driver problem ...
Oh, and for the prime program to work you just need to install the "AMD Catalystâ„¢ Accelerated Parallel Processing (APP) Technology Edition" ... |

you can still mix ati & nvidia cards and runn the latest drivers. I do that myself with a 5870 & 8800GS.
Here's what i did to get both working.
1. uninstall both ATI & NVIDA drivers
2. reboot and run "Driver Cleaner" -> remove all references to ATI & NVIDIA
3. shutdown and remove the NVIDIA card
4. download and install the ATI drivers & restart
5. shutdown and insert the NVIDIA card again
6. download and install the latest NV drivers & reboot
That's with the ATI card being the primary card.
If it's different on your systzem you need to change the steps
After thatbeing done, both cards were recognized by boinc again.

Or I can just surrender ... which is what I am going to do ... Gotta wait till I do my taxes to make sure I have enough to pay uncle ... after that I am going to start to look for replacements for the cards I have been losing over the last couple months ...
My oldest aTI cards (4870s) are still chunking along, I lost one 5870 and a couple of my CUDA cards ... and with this headache ... well, ...
Have you gotten any of the new 68xx cards yet? I have been wondering if the 6850 is faster than the 5870 or not ... I can more easily afford a pile of those ... and even replace the oldest 4870s ... |

...

Tried this on another system ... as soon as the Nvidia card was recognized, ATI card was out... so I guess I will have to live with segregated systems again ...
Not THAT big of a deal... running out of Nvidia cards anyway... I have two open slots from cards failing and now this ... I had hoped to keep the GTX260 working, but I guess it is not to be ... once I get my taxes done (as I noted) I will probably buy a pair of 6970s and move the 5870s to the one system and install the 6970s in the other ...
Anyway, thanks for the tip though it did not work for me ... |
