For the last 30 or so PPS WU's I have been up against a strange host that always gets the WU 1 hour before I do -- reports back always in exactly 1 hour and does all WU's in exactly 600secs ---
What Gives ?? What is this???

Maybe this is how workunits from PRPnet are imported into BOINC?

Thanx vasm -- I do remember this thread now --- I have seen this only on odd ocassions in the past --- never on 400 consecutive WU's on all 17 hosts before.
One odd thing is that with my very low work cache I have shown up as the initial checker in about 50% of the WU's -- so I am now both double checker AND initial reporter against the dummy WU ??

Yes, probably someone has done extensive work on a Proth range and now that Primegrid reached that range it's mainly double-checking until we get through. |

Sorry vasm -- I was editing when you replied -- (EDIT)

(EDIT)
This is what had me confused -- if it was a double check then how could I be first to report???

Expect quite a bit of these once we reach higher n ranges :D

Hi Peter -- thats a mighty impressive RAC you are showing there ---
Aggh Well --we have been through searched ranges before -- I'm assuming that if I beat the dummy computer and report first then I get the initial finders points on any primes --- they just won't be reportable

DoES - we're doublechecking all the time, the only difference is that via BOINC it's done almost simultanously. If you're really after reportables you might want to do PRPnet or offline crunching - you'll always be first to do a WU. Don't know about initial finder and double checker points though. If I understood correctly, the primes might not even be sent out again via BOINC. But I'd prefer one of the admins to answer this.
BTW - my RAC is much higher than my average daily work. The formula doesn't cope very well with big chunks of credits being granted as it happens when you participate in offline sieving.

Peter -- I have been crunching away at PPS LLR for 6 months continuous -- I crunch whaterver comes -- reportable or not reportable --who cares -- From PM's I have had from John on this thread I think I see what PG is trying to do with the "dummy" computer--- Stay happy my friend & good crunching ---
