Proth Prime Search :
PPS Work Units => High Priority

Hi, I've recently switched from Twin Prime Search to look for Proth Primes. I'm using the BOINC client, and an annoying feature is that all the PPS WUs I get have deadlines within 2-3 days of the current date. As a result, they are marked as 'high priority' and run immediately, even if other WUs are in progress, including other BOINC projects. Of course, when they are finished, BOINC requests more work, gets more PPS WUs, and the process repeats itself.
Is there any way to get WUs that have a longer deadline? Or to turn off the 'high priority' feature? If not I'll just switch back to TPS...
Cheers

I have changed deadline from 3 days to 5 days.
It will take effect in about 30 min. from now.
Please tell me if this help you.

Iain. This is a common problem when you switch to a new project or connect a new host. At default settings You get a great number of WU's that have lengthy "estimated time to completion" this will reduce (slowly) as you continue with the project.
The best solution is to reduce your additional work buffer, BOINC Manager -- Advanced > preferences > network usage and set work buffer to a lower value-- (you might want to abort the mess you have and reset)-- now you will only get a couple of WU's at a time--- If you have a reliable internet you can set very low (I use 0.005)-- Doing this also means you have a much better chance of being the primary checker (first to report) My Duo core completes and reports a WU in 15 or 20 min-- some of the PG heavyweights turn a WU over in 6 to 8 mins.

Thanks for the help, I've now got a much shorter work queue, and it seems to balance better with other projects.
